Babur Yakar from the Fine Art America – African Theme Artwork Group

Another great photographer from the African Theme Artwork Group to allow me to feature his work here is Babur Yaka, his style of photography is obviously heavily influenced by Henri Cartier-Bresson and in his own words he says, “Nowadays my main passion is photographing extraordinary daily things in life. I am after a glimpse or a moment that cannot be repeated again. I enjoy photographing ordinary people in their own space, in their own world, their own story, in natural light, and preferably in black and white."

Babur Yakar Bio:

I travel all over the world, visit many exotic and interesting places, photographing people and their environment. I was born in Turkey and currently living in South Africa for the past twenty odd years. I have been with photography since 1990s. I worked with famous cosmetics brands, and involved with fashion photography.

Nowadays my main passion is photographing extraordinary daily things in life. I am after a glimpse or a moment that cannot be repeated again. I enjoy photographing ordinary people in their own space, in their own world, their own story, in natural light, and preferably in black and white.

I started photography in the analogue age, with 35mm and medium format films. I printed most of my artwork in my darkroom for quiet a while. With the digital age we all had to learn the digital technology. I still process my digital images same way I would do with analogue way.

The way I select my portfolio is based on the space available on my walls. Since I have limited space, not every photograph will make it. This is the way of thinking I follow when I go through my collection -even though- I ran out of space on my walls ages ago.

In other words, what is displayed here is selected based on 'if it is not good to hang it on my wall, then it won't be good on your walls either'. It must tell a story or to evoke a feeling within.
